If you pass the doctoral qualifying exam, you will be required to appoint a Jury of the Thesis Monitoring Committee (Tez İzleme Komitesi ) by Monday, June 30 , 2025. Also, note that you must submit your Thesis Proposal Defense (Tez Önerisi Savunması) within 6 months at the latest after DYS. (https://fbe.metu.edu.tr/tr/system/files/tez_onerisi_savunmasi.pdf)
If you have taken the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam last semester (in November) ;
You must submit your thesis proposal defense (TÖS) on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the latest. Make sure you fill out the correct form (Ph.D. Thesis Proposal Defense Official Report Form) we submitted on the link (Tez Önerisi Savunması). As of the day you pass TÖS, you should submit your form to your program secretary with abstract and öz (in Turkish) attachment within 3 working days at the latest. For more information:

If you are in the process of Thesis Monitoring Committee ;
You are required to defend the Thesis Monitoring Committee (TIK) You must submit the TIK report (Thesis Monitoring Committee Assignment Form) to department secretary. 4 copies of the form will be signed and you should keep one. It is important that you keep this form. When you take the thesis exam, you are expected to know the date of TÖS and the last three TIK.
In addition, the scholarship students need to upload this document to the system.

Defense of the thesis proposal and monitoring the course of the thesis work
ARTICLE 44 - (4) For the student whose thesis proposal has been approved, the TİK convenes twice a year, once between January and June and once between July and December. The student submits a written report to the TİK members at least one month before their meeting. In this report, a summary of the work covered thus far and the work plan for the next semester are given. The letter grade for the student’s thesis work is determined as (S) or (U) by the TİK. Students who receive the letter grade "U" twice consecutively, or three times intermittently, in their thesis work are deemed unsuccessful and dismissed from their programs.
(6) In order for the student's thesis to be finalized, at least three TİK reports should be presented.

Tez İzleme Komitesi sürecindeyseniz ;
Bu dönem Tez İzleme Komitesi savunmasına çıkmanız gerekmektedir. Savunmadan sonra imzalı Tez İzleme Komitesi tutanak formunu bölüm sekreterine teslim etmelisiniz. TİK tutanak formu 4 adet düzenlenir ve bir tanesi sizde kalmalıdır. Bu formu saklamanız önemlidir. Tez sınavına çıkacağınız zaman TÖS ve son üç TİK tutanağının tarihini bilmeniz beklenir. Ayrıca burs alan öğrenciler sakladıkları bu belgeyi sisteme yüklemeye ihtiyaç duymaktadır.
TİK ile ilgili yönetmelik maddesi:
MADDE 44 – (4) Tez önerisi kabul edilen öğrenci için TİK, Ocak-Haziran ve Temmuz-Aralık ayları arasında birer defa olmak üzere yılda en az iki kez toplanır. Öğrenci, toplantı tarihinden en az bir ay önce komite üyelerine yazılı bir rapor sunar. Bu raporda o ana kadar yapılan çalışmaların özeti ve bir sonraki dönemde yapılacak çalışma planı belirtilir. Öğrencinin tez çalışması, komite tarafından başarılı (S) veya başarısız (U) olarak belirlenir. Komite tarafından üst üste iki kez veya aralıklı olarak üç kez başarısız bulunan öğrencinin programla ilişiği kesilir.

Akademik takvime göre ilkbahar yarıyılı sonu itibari ile tez jürisine 01 Eylül 2025 Pazartesi gününe kadar çıkmanız gerekmektedir.
