1. MNT Department’s Proficiency Exam is held every May and November.

2. Candidates of the PhD Qualifying Exam will apply with an application in Turkish which states the subject of the thesis adressed to the"Mikro ve Nanoteknoloji EABD Başkanlığına" and the application form until the end of the period of Add-Drop at the latest. This application will be forwarded to the PhD Proficiency Committee after approval by the thesis advisor.

3. The test is administered as follows:

A) The written section, which is the first step of the examination, consists of MNT 501 and MNT 502, which are the compulsory courses of the MNT program, and two courses about the doctoral strudies taken during the candidate's program, as total of 4 cources.

I- MNT 501 and MNT 502 examinations are prepared with the contribution of the lecturers who give this course and are examined by the Doctorate Proficiency Committee (DYK). The condition of being successful from the exams is at least 60 out of 100.

II- The candidate must propose three of the Elective courses (two of which are Restricted Elective courses) to DYK approval which could be selected from passed courses of the Master’s or the PhD degree. The candidate examine from the 2 courses which the committee finds appropriate. To be successful from these exams is to get 50 out of 100.

B) If the written exams are passed successfully, the candidate will take the oral exam as the final stage of the PhD Proficiency Exam. The oral examination consists of basic information about the PhD thesis subject of the candidate, including the content of the courses and the general knowledge that the candidate has proposed. The jury evaluates the candidate's oral test. The average score of jury members must be at least 50 out of 100. If the three members of the total five jury members were evaluate the candidate below 50 points, the candidates will fail the oral examination regardless of the average.

C) Candidates who were successful in both stages of the examination are informed of this situation by the Institute of Natural and Applied Science. If the candidate is unsuccessful, he/she has to take the next first PhD Qualifying Exam to accomplish the failed courses.

1. MNT Anabilim Dalı Doktora Yeterlik Sınavı her yıl Mayıs ve Kasım ayları içerisinde yapılır.

2. Doktora Yeterlik Sınavına girecek adaylar, en geç sınava girilecek dönemin Add-Drop süresinin sonuna kadar "Mikro ve Nanoteknoloji EABD Başkanlığına"  tez konusunu belirten Türkçe bir dilekçe ve başvuru formu ile başvururlur. Bu dilekçe tez danışmanı tarafından onaylandıktan sonra Doktora Yeterlik Komitesine iletilir.

3. Sınav aşağıdaki şekilde uygulanır:

A) Sınavın ilk aşaması olan yazılı bölüm, MNT programının zorunlu dersleri olan MNT 501 ve MNT 502 derslerine ek olarak adayın programı süresince aldığı ve doktora konusu ile ilgili iki ders olmak üzere toplam 4 dersten oluşur.

I- MNT 501 ve MNT 502 sınavları bu dersi veren öğretim üyelerinin katkısı ile hazırlanır ve Doktora Yeterlik Komitesi (DYK) tarafından incelenir. Sınavlardan başarılı olma şartı 100 üzerinden en az 60 almaktır.

II- Öğrencinin Yüksek Lisans veya Lisansüstü çalışmaları boyunca aldığı seçmeli derslerden (ikisi zorunlu seçmeli derslerden olmak üzere) üç tanesini DYK onayına sunar. Aday, komitenin uygun gördüğü 2 dersten sınava girer. Bu sınavlardan başarılı olma şartı 100 üzerinden 50 almaktır.

B) Yazılı sınavların tamamından başarılı olunması durumunda adayın gireceği  sözlü sınav ise Yeterlik Sınavının son aşamasını oluşturur. Sözlü sınav adayın doktora konusu ile ilgili temel bilgilerden, önermiş olduğu derslerin içeriklerini de kapsayan ve genel bilgi düzeyini ölçen sorulardan oluşur. Jüri adayın sözlü sınavını değerlendirir. Jüri üyelerinin verdikleri notların ortalaması 100 üzerinden en az 50 olmalıdır. Toplam beş jüri üyesinin üçünün verdiği notun 50’nin altında olması durumunda ortalamaya bakılmaksızın aday sözlü sınavdan başarısız bulunur.

C) Sınavın her iki aşamasında da başarılı bulunan adayların bu durumu Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsüne iletilir. Aday başarısız olduğu taktirde, başarısız olduğu  derslerden, bu aşamayı takip eden ilk Doktora Yeterlik Sınavı döneminde tekrar sınavlara girmek zorundadır.
